Vale Judy Cameron

Sadly, we lost a long time member of our club just before Christmas. She lost her battle with melanoma which had been very unkind to her over the last few years.    Judy was a member of Breakers Women’s Bowling Club for 18 years and had been a member of Social, Match and Selection  committees during those years.  Judy was always ready for a joke and got up to a bit of mischief with her team mates over her bowling career. She was always ready to act as controlling body or to step in whenever a team was short handed.  We miss her kindness and send our condolences to her family.  Her funeral is today at Greenway at 12 noon.

Welcome to 2023!

 Hi everyone.

Happy New Year to you all and best wishes for another successful year on the bowling greens at Breakers.

We will resume bowls tomorrow - 3rd January , but at a slow and relaxed pace. Come down to the bowling green about 8.45 or so, we will see who has survived their Xmas and New Year celebrations and make up some teams. Back in full swing for 10th January - looking forward to seeing you all and getting back into our bowls.

Our annual Summer Shield was played today under beautiful summer skies.  The trophy and prizes were awarded to Sally Murphy, Barb Stratford and Sue Perdriau by the sponsor of the event - Carol Allis.  We appreciate Carol’s support and generosity.

News

Our District team played the Rosebowl competition last Friday but met a very strong Newcastle crew.  Well done Sue, Sue and Carol for making it this far.

Our Club Singles has been played .  Our new Club Champion is Kim Trethewy . She had a very tight win over Sue Newman 25/23. Well played both girls.

In a busy few weeks , our Club fours start tomorrow with one game to be played and the rest on Thursday.  Good bowls everyone and the best of luck to everyone who has entered.

Our Xmas Party/ Presentation Day is on 13th December.  It’s always a great day.  Could you please pay a $20cash  deposit by the end of November with the other $20 due by 6 th December.  We will be having a 2 course meal and enjoying the entertainment from our friend Tony who has played for us before.

As I said, a busy few weeks ahead with Summer Shield to be played on Tuesday 29th November.

We have decided to give our Club mobile phone a big miss as it does not provide the service we want so please delete that mobile number( 0493  234 256) from your contacts.  You can ring the bowls office        43 846335 from 8.30 am until 8.45 am at the latest to add or delete your name from the playing list.

Thanks everyone .  Hope to see you all on the bowling green in the coming weeks.
